Pete Hardy
A teacher with 30 years experience, singer-song writer
and 18 years experience in charity work in Romania.
"For almost 40 years I
have worked in prisons, churches (you name it and alone or with friends I've
done it.) Now I have one job and not two and for the past three years I have
worked extensively in schools as well as other community groups.
I teach, I share my faith, I write and perform. I also travel to Romania
where we are involved with a charity. Fundatia Poplars works with life
limited children, young people and their families and carers. I give
presentations on the work in Romania and run induction programmes for
volunteers wishing to work with us. I put in regular appearances at Queen's
University Belfast in this capacity."
Pete Hardy worked with a group called Faith in the '70's. Reviewed by Selwyn Hughes, CWR as
"...a jewel in God's time-piece of redemption." (Selwyn Hughes, CWR)
Pete has 3 albums with Kingsway.
Through the '80's and into the '90's he wrote, produced and performed on 3 albums with the Pete Hardy Band.
His latest Solo album is called "Just a Bag of Stories."
"When I was a child I sat for hours on the back steps of my parents' house...I sang, cried, laughed, planned and dreamed...I hoped there was more to it all than this...what hope is there for a kid with a downer on himself...who can't kick a football or fight to save his own skin?
When I was 19, Jesus turned my life upside down...opened up a whole new world of opportunity...I was heading down a road of occupational failure, relational breakdown and drink-fuelled amnesia.
In His hands I have been blessed with a good long marriage, great kids, a successful career and the opportunity to share the life I have with Him in amazing places - even got to go to prison lots of times!"
"Just a Bag of Stories" is a catalogue of His dealings.
"Each of us, in Him, is a letter written clear so that a dying world can know the life He died to give."
"The child on the back steps? Under God's careful restoration of the soul is becoming the person his Father in heaven always really wanted him to be.
It's like I'm coming home to myself.
I write songs to make sense to myself of the things God does in our lives. Get me for any group you might have in mind. I like:
church groups, six or seven people around a kitchen table, more just "at home", groups in halls. I did 5,000 in a church in Romania once but it scared me some! I do like prisons."
"Just a Bag of Stories" - "my seventh album to date serves to help illustrate
my faith walk. I am married to Ruth, I am a father, grandpa and leader in
the Church, actively following Jesus for almost 40 years."
