Pete
Hardy trained for primary and taught for almost 25 years in secondary
school teaching Humanities, as Head of Careers and Personal and Social
Education, and finally Head of Special Needs Education, Co-ordinator of
Special Needs provision (SENCO) at both Portland School , Worksop and
its associated Family of Schools. Pete still works in a local secondary
academy mentoring students in the Behaviour for Learning department.
Currently his work takes him into almost 20 schools across all Key
Stages. Pete meets staff and pupils in whole school, class and small
group situations. His time is spent in the Nottinghamshire Authority
but he also works in some schools in Derbyshire and has worked further
a field on request.
On any day you may find
Pete (deep breath):
In assembly, in discussions with a Head
Teacher listening to concerns or planning for the future,
with staff devising curriculum or planning input for RS,
PHSE, SEAL, or any other initiative which comes across our
corporate door, in class working on any issue from leading a
song-writing session, speaking on working in Romania, representing local church in school
communities, joining a group
on a trip (so far he has been to Paris as well as numerous
places in the UK), in the staff room listening to staff and
trying to be supportive in what is, by anyone's reckoning, a
stressful and demanding workplace.
